St. Mary St. Vincent de Paul Conference
Our St. Vincent de Paul Conference was started in August 2014. We serve those in need in our local community and work with neighboring St. Vincent de Paul Societies to expand the services we are able to offer.
We thought you might like a snapshot of the type of service your
local St. Vincent DePaul Society has recently provided to the needy in your
community.
78 year old man who used all his retirement funds to pay for his wife's cancer treatment for 15 years before she died. He was arrears on his water and DTE accounts and his gas was shut off.
Woman with 2 children provided with a bed frame, a washer, next month’s rent, and thrift cards for clothes for them.
A gentleman, temporarily working part-time, received a notice of eviction. Needed help with his mortgage payment.
A family with a 3 year old were given assistance with their water and DTE bill, and a Thrift card for furniture and clothing. He called to thank us for everything. Very grateful for the help.
A lady needed two months’ rent and was sleeping on the floor. Her need is for $120 in rent plus a bed.
Single mother with two children scheduled to be evicted on Monday. A very nice person that just got in a bad situation with the jobs.
A man just got out of the hospital with double pneumonia, and had his arm amputated, he's on oxygen, has lost his eyesight in one eye and is scheduled for surgery Monday on the other eye. The surgery could not take place unless he came up with the $14.00 co-pay, which is what he was asking for. He also needed $3.00 to get a ride to the surgical center. He didn't want any more assistance, and thanked and thanked us for coming out to help him
Your donations to the St. Vincent DePaul PODS helped make the Thrift Cards possible. Your donations to the Food Pantry make it possible for us to deliver food boxes to our clients. Your donations in the little brown envelope and the Parish envelope purchase food, and necessary items. “Twinning” with other parishes makes it possible to do more with less by working together. Your prayers give us strength.
Quoting one of our reports. “He was hungry for food but he also was hungry for someone to talk too, and he seemed so grateful to just have someone to hear him and listen to what he's been going through. How rewarding it is to be part of St. Vincent DePaul to be able to do something so small but meant so much to someone really in need. “
